FIFA 15: Emotional Intelligence Makes You Feel the Game and Enjoy the Game

FIFA is produced by EA Sports. Some players might excited about what EA has improved. EA advertise FIFA 15 as “feel the game”, and just as it says, the improvements actually make us feel like we are playing the game by ourselves. For FIFA 15, however, it appears that the power of the next-gen consoles has helped the developers refine the series’ gameplay and presentation into arguably the most realistic soccer experience yet. It may not feature the most revolutionary new features or modes (EA Sports has yet to say much about that), but as far as a nice leap forward FIFA 15 certainly looks the part.

That realism extends to the replays. They look brilliant - slowed down, the grass can be seen coming off the end of a players' boot as they shoot. For fouls, the exact contact that’s been made can be scrutinised. Players now have a far wider range of emotions too, meaning the players appear to react according to the situation they're in, and aren't afraid to get physical with their opponents after a dodgy tackle either. Another touch is goal-line technology being used. It's obviously pointless, a computer knows whether it's in or not, but the authentic angles and visuals are great.

“During gameplay our emotional intelligence feature connects all 22 players on the pitch,” says Senior Producer Nick Channon. “Each player has a feeling or attitude towards every other player on the pitch, which evolves positively or negatively over time, based on how the match plays out.” Channon adds that there are “over 600 emotional animations that will tell the story of the match from the player’s perspective,” which will, according to the video, apply to the crowd as well.

This unique game feature was already previewed back at E3. On the pitch, there are 22 players that will have different attitudes, and attitudes about one another. These players will evolve when they interact with the other players. The interaction can be rough. It can lead to big moments or missed opportunities. The feature can also be called teammate intelligence. For example, if a player get a goal, his teammate would feel cheerful about it, while the opposing team would disappointed or even angry.

According to EA Sports, this emotional intelligence feature will include "over 600 new emotional reactions, players now respond to big moments on the pitch as they would in real life. Each player has an attitude or feeling towards every teammate and opponent on the pitch." Bad tackles, missed chances and crucial goals - all 22 players on the pitch will react naturally based on what’s been happening during the match. Facial expressions and body language will let you experience the attitudes and emotion of your favourite PLAYERS.

Player emotions are also given importance as in if a player misses a lot of opportunities then other players will show their reactions to the missed chance. And if a player scores a last minute goal, then the player will be seen besieged by all the players in the team during a 10- class celebration.

Emotional intelligence is a big step that FIFA has made. FIFA make attempts in creating an atmosphere where players can experience FIFA 15 by themselves. The new features will make the gaming experience better for everyone. Emotional intelligence is not the only upgrade FIFA 15 will see. More advanced team tactics are promised, and will change the behavior of a team that is trailing late versus one that is ahead. A team that needs an equalizer will start bombing passes into the other side’s half of the field, while one with a lead will pack its half and bog everything down. Offensive players will take off on more optimal attacking runs and CPU players will shield the ball in the corner.
