We’re forecasting all FIFA 17 Team of the Season squads announced. If the FUT 17 TOTS squad is released on a Wednesday they will be available for a week. If they are released on a Friday, then the likelihood is that they will be available for five days. The TOTY, the greatest and rarest players in the game, comes out in early January. As part of the event special and expensive packs will be available during the week of the TOTY and therefore people try to sell their players in order to raise coins to buy some of those packs and have a chance to get an elusive blue TOTY card.

 

Defenders are definitely given some unnatural help, firstly in matching attackers regardless of individual skills but more potently when dealing with crosses. Balls whipped in end up on a defender's bonce suspiciously more often than not, and if the supernaturally unflappable goalkeepers leave their line you can forget it. They won't miss. This has the advantage of stretching play quicker, or catching defenders unaware. The drawback is that it's much easier to miscontrol, the ball bobbling off unprepared feet. The key to unlocking defences and keeping possession is to mix up your passing game to pull teams out of shape. 

 

Manage to get through and the shooting is exceptional, given real fizz and physicality. Smacking one into the back of the net has rarely been so gratifying. I've seen their 'punch from the penalty spot' animation more times than I care to mention. You want to score from the wings? Zip it along the ground. We understand that the market has lost value over the last couple of days, probably due to the recent pack offers and other players selling up early, but we can only foresee prices falling further across the board. 

 

This includes in-forms (especially those that will receive a FIFA 16 Team of the Season in-form). FUT TOTS in-forms will be the most hyped type of in-form and their other cards (although sometimes higher rated) will not be in as high demand, meaning prices will likely fall. Other in-forms will also see the knock on effect of less demand and hence lower prices. From EA’s perspective confidence in the Transfer Market prices equals returning customers (think back to the Price Ranges introduction during FIFA 17 where player prices took a major hit overnight.

Markets are supposed to fluctuate and by allowing prices to recover, EA can warrant offering their annual FUTmas pack promotions and hugely popular release of blue Team of the Year (TOTY) in-form cards. Everyone wants to pack a blue TOTY in-form card, so this is when supply massively increases and as Conor McGregor would say “the market crash is here to take over”.

 

In short you can sell players now and buy them back during the crash if you want however at this stage you are unlikely to make a profit margin of more than 20%. But the best way to get something out of the crash is to simply have a player, or set of players, that you want to buy for your team and watch their price to pick them for a a bargain price at the perfect time. Most other strategies are mostly just hokum and are not worth the time or effort. Highly rated silvers, especially pacey forwards and powerful midfielders, are likely to eclipse the cost of most golds.
