FIFA 16 will be released in September this year, however EA Sports' alpha version has given many gamers the opportunity to obtain early knowledge surrounding player ratings, including Barcelona and Real Madrid. EA also announced on Monday that Canadian Women's National Team captain Christine Sinclair will be featured on the cover for the Canadian edition of "FIFA 16." Alex Morgan, the U.S. Women’s national team star will grace the regional cover of EA Sports’ FIFA 16 game, marking the first time that women have been so honored. EA say they will make these changes as quickly as possible and have warned to expect multiple updates throughout July and August, downtime has already set several time since this announcement was made.

 

Earlier this year FIFA announced it was finally adding women to its popular “FIFA” video game series. Now, following the USA women’s soccer team’s World Cup win, player Alex Morgan has made the cover of the “FIFA 16” U.S. video game release, alongside male soccer player Lionel Messi. Publisher EA have already commenced moving players from their old squads to their new ones. Over the course of the next few months, as player transfers are approved in the real-world they will make those same changes in FIFA 16 Ultimate Team. It’s critical for us that we focus on a great game that people want to play.”

Not only will Morgan grace the cover of the U.S. version of the game, but for the first time ever, she and the U.S. national team will be featured in the game, along with 11 other women's national soccer teams. "It is an incredible honor to be one of the first women featured on the cover of EA SPORTS FIFA," said Morgan in an EA SPORTS press release. "I know people all over the world play this game and I'm really excited that 'FIFA 16' is putting such an important spotlight on women's soccer. And now to share the cover with today's greatest player is surreal."

 

You can choose to play as one of the 12 Women's National Teams, but you can only play against another Women's team. The play options include Kick Off, Tournament Mode and Friendlies. The teams include, USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Sweden, China, and Australia. EA did not confirm the addition of new teams in the future, but if fans respond well to this new play mode we may see growth in 2016.
